International conference on the EU Enlargement in the Western Balkans

ELIAMEP is organizing on 13 September 2023 an open, international conference on “The EU-accession perspectives of the Western Balkans in light of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine” in cooperation with the Wilfried Martens Center for European Studies and the Hanns-Seidel Stiftung.

The event will be opened by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Mr. George Gerapetritis, and will consist of a series of panels, bringing together a number of government officials and experts from the Western Balkan countries and the EU, exchanging views on the current challenges and perspectives for EU enlargement in the shadow of Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine.

The event is part of the network of actions that ELIAMEP is developing within this year’s Civil Society and Think-Tank Forum (CSF), which will take place in October in Tirana, in the framework of the Berlin Process, an EU supported intergovernmental initiative to promote the European perspectives of the Western Balkans.

ELIAMEP participates in the Civil Society and Think-Tank Forum as a co-organiser, together with the Open Society Foundations and the Cooperation and Development Institute (CDI). ELIAMEP’s South-East Europe Programme under Dr. Ioannis Armakolas, Head of the Programme, is the implementing actor of the conference.

The event will take place in the “Aris Garoufalis” hall of the Athens Conservatory (1st floor), on Wednesday, 13.09.2023 from 08:30 to 17:30.
